Bio
I am an undergraduate student majoring in Physics and Integrated Science at Northwestern University. I was born in Brazil, and grew up in a small farm surrounded by the Atlantic Forest. Being curious about the world is just natural in this environment. What really made me a Physicist is the appreciation for the mathematical tools that allowed me to abstract and predict nature, organize my ideas, and make new discoveries.
I never found a pattern in what makes my eyes light up. I think I like to work with mysterious things. In this sense, the first two mysterious topics that probably come to your mind are astrophysics and quantum mechanics. Therefore, perhaps the fact that the summer after freshman year I worked in Theoretical Astrophysics and last summer I worked in Quantum Computing is not too surprising. Simulating hydrodynamical interactions between planets and gas disks gave me plenty of computational and theoretical experience that I can apply in my new research. At the same time, working with Low Temperature Physics provided me with lots of experimental and technical knowledge that I consider very valuable for a researcher.
Hopefully, in a couple years I’ll be able to tell you exactly what it is that I want to research as a physicist. Certainly, my goal is to learn as much as possible so I can share as much knowledge as possible. Beyond that, I am always open to discover new passions.
